Mooney rubber Viscometer testing machine
It is an instrument used for measuring the mooney viscosity of a
substance (mainly elastomers and rubbers). It contains a rotating
spindle and heated dies, the substance encloses and overflow the
spindle and the mooney viscosity is calculated from the torque on
the spindle.
Overview:
A distinctive feature of Mennigold is well that the instrument is
fully automatic during the test, but it is also possible to modify
the measuring time by human intervention. If a piece of rubber is
set for a measurement time of 20 minutes, the 20 points of the
measurement can be changed to any value of 15 or 30 points halfway
through, simply by changing the 20 points to 15 or 30 points in the
"Change measurement time" on the experimental chart, i.e. on the
right side of the display, and pressing "like". If the rubber
measurement time is set to 20 minutes, 20 minutes after t18 (rotor)
or t35 (large rotor) is not measured, the number of experiments
will automatically move down the points, also line (manual
modification of the measurement time) until the measurement of t18
or t35, schematic diagram as Figure 1. If t18 or t35 is not
detected within 200 minutes, will automatically end the
measurement. This function is greatly convenient for the user and
saves valuable time and rubber.
Test Results
Measure of Mooney viscosity (Large rotor):
MI -- initial Mooney viscosity.
ML – The minimum Mooney value in the last 30 seconds before the
motor stopped.
Mx-t - Mooney value relating to time t.
x-the time of preheat, t-Mooney test time
Stress Relaxation
MRe - Mooney value at the end of stress relaxation.
TRx - time needed for x% torque stress relaxation.
Xy% - % of Viscosity decay after motor stopped y sec.
The value of exponent a, the constant k, the correlation
coefficient r, and the area A .
