The EN 71 1998 Sharp Points Cusp Tester is a specialized toy safety testing device designed to detect potentially dangerous sharp points on toys that could pose safety hazards to children.

1. Place the sharp point tester on the tangible point and check whether the tested point can be inserted into the sharp point tester to the specified depth.
2. Insert the pointed point into the measuring slot and apply an external force of 1 pound. If the indicator light activates, the point is judged to be a sharp point.
3. Wood thorns in wooden toys are considered dangerous sharp points and must not be present on toys.
4. Before each inspection, adjust the sensor head according to regulations to ensure accuracy and sensitivity.
5. When adjusting the sharp point tester, first loosen the locking ring, then rotate it forward until the indicator device exposes the calibration reference scale.
6. Rotate the measuring cover clockwise until the indicator light flashes, then counterclockwise until the appropriate micrometer mark aligns with the calibration scale.
7. Turn the locking ring until it abuts the measuring cap to fix it in position.
